Timothy Grass

Timothy grass is high in fiber and lower in both sugar and calcium compared to other  grass hays.  We began raising timothy at the request of several customers for a low-sugar alternative to the other grass hays commonly grown in our area.  The nutritional  content of timothy make it an ideal "free-choice” hay for animals that continually graze (i.e. horses and small pets).  Timothy differs from the other hay varieties that we raise in that it generally produces one high-yielding cutting a year.  Seldom it’s possible to get a second cutting in our area as the summers are just too hot and dry, but every now and again we luck out.
